Instagram for 13 and under is not effective as it seems
Image from Buzzfeed.com The social media apps for younger children sound like the media companies care for the younger generation, which is great to know, however, there are holes in the desired solution from bullying and such. It is pretty useless if children who have phones with freedom, constantly fake their age in the age confirmation when creating an account. But, looking at YouTube Kids, seems like it is working, because this product focuses on content that is for kids! Unlike the real media world where people communicate freely, children are curious to explore it and, so, become exposed to the harsh reality of it. Such as cyberbullying, harassment, or predation. I do not think there is any merit in the apps for children.
